We're 'Famous'!

Check out this week's North Coast Journal. We are SO in there! Here's the blurb, in case you can't read it:

"Where do you go when you have a challenge to spin edible yarn? Directly to your locl Murphy's Market. Velma's business, COLORBOMB Creations, spins boutique yarns and one of her colleagues made the unique challenge to a group of spinners. Velma, with the help of Callie and Jaime, members of Murphy's staff in Sunny Brae, found cornhusks, dry Serrano chilis, and dried tomato skins to spin into "yarn." It worked. Velma's partner, Cole, a woodworker and carpenter, builds some of her tools. He is also Ice Bowl Tournament director, an annual disc golf event held collectively worldwide that raises money for charities. This obviously busy household calls Murphy's Market 'our larder because we live just a few steps away from everything we need.' What's on your grocery list this week?"
COLORBOMB Creations, in the "news", how cool is that? Not a bad start to 2008, I'd say.

  2. Ha! It had to be edible, but you didn't have to eat it! Actually, after I made it I decided I played kind of fast and loose with the term 'edible' -- maybe a goat would eat it, but not me!

Hi, I just found your blog from Ravelry. I couldn't resist the Humboldt county tag... I went to school at HSU about a million years ago. I did some knitting for a yarn shop just off the square in Arcata - I wonder if that shop is still there.

  4. Hi Alex! Glad you found me. What's your username on Ravelry? I'll look for ya.

You couldn't have been here *that* long ago... that fabric store (which is still there, Fabric Temptations - they sell my handspun) has only been there since somewhere around '87. It was a tea/book shop before that. But it's the Arcata LYS now.

    Hope to see you again!
