Walk on the Wild Tide

Couldn't resist posting about my new WIP, the socks I'm making with the April Rockin' Sock Club Yarn 'Walk on the Wild Tide'. I started them this morning and look how far I've come! This is spectacularly delicious yarn, I've gotta say. When knit up it resembles nothing more than a velvety chenille, in both appearance and to the touch. Maybe I'll finish one this weekend while I'm camping...

  3. thanks, cristina and tristitia - i really like the way it is knitting up, much darker than the photo of the lace pattern that came with it.

  4. Love Walk on the Wild Tide. Looks like you're knitting them in stockinette - me too.

  5. hi ava! yes, stockinette. this is only my 2nd pair of socks (last month's pattern was my first), and i thought the stockinette would show off the colors better. loving it! i'm up above the ankle now. gonna have to order a 2nd skein, as i'm making knee socks. i'm going to have to come check your out.

  6. sorry about the Walking on the Wild Tide photo, Velma. It's just a picture of the hank before I wound it. I'm following the pattern for the knee socks, knitting stockinette in place of the YOs and knit-togethers. Does that make sense? I'm not sure if I'll have enough yarn, but I'm going to knit on anyway. If I run out, I'll buy another skein. I just drafted a post about my progress. I'm feeling a little guilty because I've only finished one of the Rockin' Sock Club kits!

  7. why would you feel guilty? there have only been 2! or were you in it last year, too?

what you describe *does* make sense; i thought the picture was of the sock itself, not just the yarn, though, hence my confusion. are you going to do the increases for the calf using the pattern? i don't think i will. i'm cobbling together a pattern from a few different sources.

i'm going to buy a 2nd skein; i figure since the pattern said you need 2 for kneesocks, i'd better. my boyfriend cole is getting me the 2nd one for my birthday.

i'll post another picure soon. cheers!
