Finished Tychus today, and this is it. Love it!!
Pattern: Tychus from Summer 2005 Knitty.
Yarn: Manos del Uruguay in 'Citric' and 'Magenta'
Needles: 8US Addi Turbos
Mods: I dislike seaming, and I didn't care for the wider stripe created by the seam join, so using only one strand of the MC and needles one size smaller, I picked up 38 stitches along the cast-on edge and bound off using 3-needle bind off; no seam! I also embellished it w/ a vintage floral pin from my collection.
This hat was easy-peasy, all garter stitch. Didn't even need to wrap stitches for the short rows, probably because it is double-stranded; did I mention it is double-stranded? It is! Makes it super warm. Also makes it a bit spendy when knit in Manos, as it used all but about 3 yards of 2 full skeins, one in each color. The pattern is written for a worsted-weight acrylic, so you could definitely go budget. All in all a great knit.

That is a cool hat. You really needed 2 full skeins for it? It must be super warm.
ReplyDeleteGORGEOUS!
ReplyDeleteI am about to graduate from the one skein Noro hat pattern that you gave me eons ago
I gave my mom a bag of yarn, needles, and a pattern for a felted hat that I will be attempting next

tienne: super warm, super thick. it is double-stranded, hence the massive yardage requirements. but also uber-quick and easy.
