It's Christmas in September!

Wheee! Lookee what I got yesterday!

The UPS chick brought my vintage Kenner Automatic Knitting Machine purchased on eBay. Looks like everything is there, and the box tells me that it's "Quick...Easy..." and that I can "knit a row a second" with my "knit-o-matic" - we'll see if it's all that and a slice of buttered toast. I just love cheesy 70s advertising. The girl on the box looks like mom's got her hand in a vice grip outside of the frame, whispering "You'd better look happy, or your puppy's 'going to live on a farm'!"

How about these books that I purchased from another knitswap member? There are some unusual patterns in the Knit Cafe book; I especially like the long gown. Been inspired by Natasha to try bead knitting, so Knitting with Beads, and my recent foray into cables for the Hoodie has got me pumped to do more, hence Vogue's Stitchionary 2: Cables now sits on my shelf next to Stitchionary 1: Knit & Purl. I also got Knitting Nature, but forgot I ordered it, and purchased a second copy in the interim. Gave the extra to Eileen (who has other priorities right now; turns out Boots has feline leukemia, and it doesn't look good. Keep them both in your thoughts, would you?)

Been wanting to, and I finally broke down and bought a sewing machine! At Costco (aka the $100 Store) yesterday, and along with the other impulse purchases (Water for Elephants, those decadent French chocolate truffles which I'm stuffing in my maw as we speak, and a ginormous jewelry box), I picked this Brother EX-660 up. Absolutely no idea whether it is a piece of shite or what, but now I can finally finish those linen pants I started at Essence's house like a year ago. Immediately picked up a copy of the current Taunton's Threads last night at the local market, and found a great vintage-stylee coat I want to make.

And this stuff is from a visit last week to Handmade Memories, I just forgot to put up the picture. Gonna knit the felted moebius bag in the Knit It! mag for starters, but there are lots of intriguing patterns in Not Just Socks, Fabulous Felted Bags, and Naturally Noro. (Man, am I ever a sucker for pattern books). There's also a size 9 pair of those new Knit Lites; thought I'd take 'em to the Minor and see if I can bug fellow moviegoers.

  1. OOooohhh...
    Fabulous felted bags for sure!
I love that huge carpet bag! I've not seen patterns felted, they look great!

Can't wait to see what you come up with.

Bummer about Boots the cat being sick, that sucks.
He just became a completely indoor guy...he will like that. He is going to get very spoiled until he goes; lying on the bed, furring up the couch, all those things that cats love to do. With all that good lovin'... he could last for years still.

My cats and I will cross our fingers for him... Er... I'll cross my fingers.... they'll cross their eyes... or toes or something.
