Ack! Can't. Keep. Up. !

Seriously, I've been spinning yarn like a mofo, Twittering like mad, knitting a weensy bit, reading, taking pics... But blogging has been taking a back seat. Again. So much to do, so little time. What-EVAH. I do what I can. Like take time to enjoy the rainbows. This one was over our house yesterday afternoon; Cole captured the Kodak moment his own self.


Like I said, I got my spinning mojo back! And I owe it all (well, some) of it to Jacey/Insubordiknit and her 'Sit and Spin!' DVD!! And since it's W.O.M.B. Wednesday (What's on my Bobbin Wednesday), check out 'Purple Nurple', fresh off the bobbin today! I tried out Jacey's clever method of spinning supercoils right into a singles, and it so totally worked. You can see one of 'em in the 3rd photo in the mosaic above. This yarn is some Über-bulky shit - 1 or 2 WPI, it's as big around as my fingers! What all's in there, well, let's see... Sequins. Easter 'grass'. Lots of yarn scraps. Mohair locks. Wensleydale roving. Corriedale clouds. TONS o' sparkle, in 3 different colors/textures. Cocoons. The aforementioned supercoils. A little lace. Some mesh. Everything but the kitchen sink!

What's on My Bobbin Wednesday

It's Wednesday, right? Wanna see what I've been spinning? Sure you do! The one one the left remains an unnamed colorway of LoopyDoopy supercoils, in 100% merino - mmm, nom nom nom! Pastel squooshiness in robin's egg blue, petal, lavender, and dove gray. Love! Be sure to leave your suggestion in the comments to vote on what I should name this color.

The one on the right, 'Have a Heart', is a decadent mix of cormo & merino wool locks + silk threads + sparkle; from batt to bobbin! So soft you might just want to rub it all over yourself. And just the right amount of bling! Valentine's Day crafting, anyone?

WOMB Wednesday & BSG

It's acronym day at Velma's World! Thought I'd do a "What's on my Bobbin?" Wednesday post. Here you are seeing skein #3 of 4 of LoopyDoopy Minis in 'Spent Blossoms'. Destined for sale at Black Sheep Gathering in June, it's supercoils in merino. (Yeah, I know; I'm sick of supercoils too. Something new soon, I promise.)

Speaking of BSG, I know I've alluded to it several times here, but I don't think I've made a formal declaration about my attendance. I'm here to change that; I *am* going to BSG in June, as a VENDOR! I'm very excited, but nervous too. This will be my first time at a big fiber festival, AND my first time as a vendor anywhere. I hope COLORBOMB and I are up to it!

I've been spinning like mad, stepping up my production as much as I can. I'm a fairly slow spinner, but I've already got 11 skeins of LoopyDoopy and LoopyDoopy Minis ready to go. My goal is to have at least 50 skeins of yarn to bring, plus some fiber. But it's been suggested that maybe I'm concentrating on the wrong audience, and that I should really be focusing on spinners, not knitters/crocheters, and should bring mostly fiber. So after my new carder gets here, I'm going to start cranking out the BOMBatts. With 2 different carders, I'll be able to make both smooth, well-blended batts (on my Strauch Finest), and lumpy-bumpy art batts (on my Fricke coarse). I'm calling them Plain Jane BOMBatts and Artsy Fartsy BOMBatts, respectively. Oh, and I'll be making some smooth batts with sparkle, called Bada Bling BOMBatts. Hope to have some pics soon to share. I should have some Wads o' Wool and Felty Balls, and some BOMBits art yarn ingredient kits, too. More details to follow as they emerge.

Ahhh...

'Nother beautiful day in paradise, as they say. Spectacular spring weather, if a bit blustery. Did some topless spinning on the back deck, ahhhh. Took a beer break and put my feet up - check out my new shoes! Gotta love shoes with polka dots on 'em. And they're eco-groovy!

Finished up a 3rd and started a 4th skein of LoopyDoopyMinis in the 'Route 66' colorway (on bobbin, left). Mailed off my check to Otto Strauch, so I'm one step closer to having my 2nd drum carder. :) Hit Purl 'n Hurl and knit with my peeps. All in all, really fun.

Here's a yarn pr0n pic for ya, of the $1 yarn I bought yesterday at the Dollar Tree. Not gonna bother adding it to my Ravelry stash, as it will get used for plying into my handspun. I'm tempted to go back and get more, as a matter of fact. It's hard to tell by the photo, but they're sparkly!
